That’s pretty amazing!

With so many members we are afforded the opportunity to give back to the community as is stated in our mission statement.  We have a few ideas in mind, like sponsoring a mile on the Fox River Trail, making an artistic bike rack and donating it to the city or a favorite establishment, hosting bike maintenance workshops for high school students, or maybe just donating funds to a worthy cause.  Thankfully, we have time to decide and we’ll listen to everyone’s input.

Bikes and biking are definitely enjoying an upswing in our community and for good reason.  Bikes are affordable, easy to transport, green, and you can deck your bike out or build it however you wish.  That’s a big part the fun for us at the collective.  We enjoy building and restoring bikes to put them back on the road and showing ’em off.  We even have a bike show on September 28th where folks can bring their bikes and the spectators vote on their favorites.  It’s also a swap meet, so one can find their next project bike or parts for a current project.  Keep your eyes on the calendar at the top of the page and follow the GBBC facebook page as well.  There’s so much going on and now that the weather is starting to cooperate, things are going to happen pretty quickly.  So on to our next ride…
